“The assessment of the Spanish presidency in terms of politics and trade can be considered more than satisfactory”; with these words, José Carlos García de Quevedo, closed on Wednesday July 20 the last breakfast-debate organized by the Chamber before the beginning of the summer holidays. The event, which counted with a great participation, was thus a perfect end to the series of breakfast-debate that have been celebrated during these six months at the Chamber, on the occasion of the Spanish Presidency of the European Union, which has recently finished.

The achievements of the Spanish Presidency, such as the agreements reached with Mercosur and Colombia-Perú, or the work done along with Korea, were some of the topics brought up by the Counsellor during his exposition. He talked as well about some multilateral objectives that had been already set at the beginning of the Presidency.
Referring to bilateral agreements, the Spanish Presidency aimed to emphasize on the agreements with Latin America, Canada, USA, the Mediterranean countries, and Japan, while at the same time pretended, in trade issues, to remove the boundaries in international commerce in order to contribute to the economic recovery.
